HISTORY

It's always fun to have a themed cocktail at a party and you don't have to wait until November and December to have cranberry cocktails! The cranberry and blood orange flavors are so refreshing and certainly a cocktail you'd want to sip on the deck in the sunshine! This recipe comes to us by Caren of The Fit Habit Blog. It's sugar free and low carb too! Give it a try and let us know what you think.

RECIPE

Ingredients

Homemade Cranberry Juice (Makes enough for 4 cocktails)

  • 3 Cups Water
  • 1 Cup Frozen Cranberries
  • Blood Orange Slices

Margarita

  • 1.5 oz Tequila
  • .5 oz Grand Marnier
  • 2 oz Homemade Cranberry Juice
  • 1 oz Lime Juice
  • 1/2 Cup Ice
  • Fresh Lime and additional Frozen Cranberries and Blood Orange slice for Garnish

Homemade Cranberry Juice

  1. Bring water, cranberries, and blood orange slices to a boil and then let simmer for 5 minutes.
  2. Mash the cranberries to release as much juice as possible.
  3. Remove from heat and strain pulp from juice. (Save the pulp for a quick cranberry sauce).
  4. Add stevia (or other natural sweetener) to sweeten the juice and pour into a mason jar for storage.

Margarita

  1. Rim cocktail glass with lime juice and dip in sugar (optional but yummy!)
  2. Add tequila, grand marnier, homemade cranberry blood orange juice, lime juice and ice to a shaker and shake well.
  3. Pour shaker contents into glass and garnish with lime, frozen cranberries, and blood orange slices.
